Dupont Corian - Mixed works

“The spirit of changing, growing, learning and improving as an essential part of the design philosophy of John Sebastian is one of the reasons for our long-term relationship. To keep developing and offering new and improved solutions simply is at the core of DuPont™ Corian®, which is what we want to demonstrate with the Endless Evolution Initiative“, says Christian Ekwall, Business Director for the DuPont Building Innovations

The design idea behind the “Verve” chair

Within some projects I developed in the recent past, I discovered the unique design versatility, the formability and the visual lightness of DuPont™ Corian®, an advanced material made by DuPont company combining properties of both metals and advanced resins. For this project, I wanted to explore and expand the tactility, the sensoriality of DuPont™ Corian® by creating a seating solution that would accommodate the current needs and behaviour of people, while balancing art, aesthetics and science.

"I first met John Sebastian, when we approached him for our “DuPont™ Corian®: 40 Years - 40 Designers” event at 2007 Milan week of design. He had never worked with Corian® before, he immediately accepted the challenge and designed one of the most elegant and original pieces of the whole exhibition: a light, gently-shaped, black and white fruit holster, alternating stripes of DuPont™ Corian® with void spaces...." says Helle Jensen, DuPont™ Corian®, country manager, Denmark.
